I go to the Emma Willard School and I play the violin.
Today, I played the first movement of Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole And I think it's a very dramatic piece with a lot of emotional contrast.
So the majority of it is very, it has lots of drama and anger in it.
But then every so often you get a plateau of peace and it's very atmospheric and touching.
It's kind of like looking down at a storm from above the clouds.
I think that's what I imagine when I play it.
I think something challenging about this piece is the endurance, because it kind of starts very fiery with lots of like, with lots of flashy fireworks, and it ends with a big bang to.
But I think I struggled a bit with keeping up the energy throughout the entire movement.
I think just keeping up that intensity while still, changing quickly enough to the moments of intimacy are are some of the hardest parts of it.
My practice routine, I usually try and start with some scales and thirds or sixths, and that's just to warm up my body and the instrument.
And I also try and warm up the strings by playing really close to the bridge and just droning the open strings because it kind of opens up the violin a bit.
And then I might play some etudes.
Those are for more technique purposes, and then I would end with, orchestra music or by solo piece I was nominated by my teacher, Helena Bailey.
I would like to thank my teacher and my parents for their unending support and love through my musical experiences.
And I would like to thank my teacher, Helena, for introducing me to this new, way of playing the violin.
I really think that she's helped me see a new part of myself as a musician, and I'm so grateful for the work that she's helped me accomplish.
