I go to Shaker High School, and I play the oboe.
the piece I played was excerpts from the Six Metamorphoses after Ovid by Benjamin Britten.
And the piece was kind of taken inspiration from the Roman poet Ovid.
And I think, you know, each piece, like the name sort of suggests, it has kind of a metamorphosis.
The last piece I played was Arethusa, and that piece is all about a character who is sort of fleeing from a river god.
All the pieces have some sort of element of change and fluidity, kind of in them.
Every movement has its own unique character.
So it really allows you to.
convey a wide range of emotions when you're playing it.
You have moments where you know there's immense happiness, and there's also moments of, like, pure sadness and just being able to express all those different emotions in one piece is like a really fun experience.
ever since I was a little kid, my mom would play classical music for me, in our home.
And in the car.
And there was always this one sound, which I really enjoyed.
And turns out that was the elbow and playing the oboe.
I just feel such a sense of being able to sing through my instrument.
I'm not the greatest singer.
But oboe really allows me to tap into that kind of creative, side and expressive side of myself.
My conductor at the Empire State Youth Orchestra.
Nominated me.
His name is Etienne Abelin.
Yeah.
He's a fantastic conductor, and it's been a pleasure to play in his orchestra.
I'd definitely like to thank my teacher, who has taught me for years now.
And he's, always helped me through it all, I would like to thank my parents as well.
They've put a lot of time and effort into me learning music and believing in me, and I'm very grateful for that and their support as well.
And I'd like to thank my friends that I play with and all the orchestras I'm in who, are with me through it all.
