Native college lacrosse players talk about the important cultural role the sport plays.
To the Haudenosaunee, lacrosse is the Medicine Game, an ancient sport played in ceremony to heal the spirit. Today, lacrosse has also become an avenue of opportunity for Native youth. Schools are recruiting more Native players, offering the chance to leave the reservation to pursue higher education. Four of UAlbany's Native players recently spoke to middle schoolers about their experience.
