Program: New York NOW

Episode: Breast Density Awareness

Increased awareness has helped women detect breast cancer earlier, yet many are unaware that dense breast tissue can lower mammography sensitivity leaving cancer unnoticed. Lawmakers have introduced legislation that would mandate mammography reports to clearly indicate dense tissue so follow up measures can be taken.
